19:10 We can’t believe that we have spent 3 weeks on Arcadia - and it is now February.
Today a leisurely drive to Alleppy in Kerala state in the midst of lush tropical waterways (34C). We took a backwater cruise on and around the River Bumba. It was very beautiful and a soothing way to observe the rural life style.
We passed small villages and schools, paddy fields where the rice crop was soon to be harvested, and saw many people washing clothes and themselves in the river. Water buffalos wallowed and egrets, in abundance, followed the tractors in the rice fields.

This area is bound to be developed further for tourism; we hope its beauty is not spoilt.
The nature of this holiday seems to prevent us from shopping – so Ashley’s Nehru jacket will have to wait. Southall might be a better bet!
Does anyone remember Ed Stewart? Ashley does, Jane doesn’t – he’s on board as a passenger and a fellow choir member.
Sri Lanka tomorrow, docking in Colombo - and Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Look out for the pictures, Millie and Oliver xx
Enjoy the heat, we are getting wind from Siberia & Inca STILL wants to be outside with the door left open!
ReplyDeleteI remember Ed Stewart, if you mean Stewpot who used to be a DJ and presented Crackerjack in the seventies?
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are still having a lovely time and seeing amazing sights. Millie & Oliver want to know if grandma liked her present? Xxx
