Dubai

23.55  We are now 5.5 hours ahead of you.  Arrived Dubai at about 07:00 when the sun was rising.  The berth is very close to where the old QE2 is currently docked awaiting refurbishment as a 5 star hotel. 

Dubai is a fascinating place which has only really been developed over the last twelve or so years.  We were able to drive onto the Palm, the reclaimed land that is in the shape of a palm tree (obviously).  We saw all the sights including the Burg al Arab hotel and the Burg Kalifa, the tallest building in the world at 828 metres. 

Flew by Emirates (excellent flight) over Iran and Pakistan and landed in New Delhi, where we were taken by a surprisingly comfortable coach to the Crowne Plaza hotel - not the one we thought we were going to.  It is superb and we had our first Indian meal in India which we finished just a few minutes ago.

The traffic in New Delhi is mad and the coach driver has managed to avoid several collisions with rickshaws, pedestrians and tuc-tucs.

This overland excursion is quite wearing as we have to cover so much gound in such a short time.  Leaving at 08:00 for Agra and Taj Mahal tomorrow.

The luxury of high speed broadband at the hotel has enabled us to download a few more photographs today.
