Phuket

We took a tender from Arcadia to Phuket on a rather rough sea and then travelled to Phang Nga.  Here we took a local motorised boat trip to see tall limestone stacks covered in dense vegetation rise out of the shallow waters.  The ‘James Bond Island’ (Roger Moore, the Man With the Golden Gun) is a high cliff which appears to be split in two.  We also visited Panyi Island, a 150 year old Thai/Muslim village built on stilts.

Jane thought this was one of the most beautiful parts of the holiday so far.  It was certainly a well organised excursion compared with Sri Lanka.  (We have received a partial refund for the elephant trip).  By the way, the ‘ladyboys’ are amazing!
Tonight we cross the Malaccan Straits on the way to Singapore, where we will arrive on Tuesday.  We are now 7 hours ahead of you.
Thanks for all texts, comments etc received saying that you like the blog and find our journey interesting.

  1. Looks lovely. I made a snowman today. I think I'd rather be doing what you're doing!

    1. Today I ate a beef casserole. It wasn't Emma's but it was tasty nonetheless. Look forward to your amazing ladyboy pictures Ashley!

  4. It was your mum's comments about ladyboys. However, it is now part of the country's culture and we met a charming young man/woman within minutes of landing in Phuket.
