A sailing day so time to reflect. Windier and rougher than normal. It will be colder as we move towards China and Japan. Whether or not this will be better for the sufferers of the ‘kennel cough’ that appears to have affected over 50% of the passengers, including both of us (yes, we’ve kept this from you all!) or worse is a matter of conjecture. P+O does not make statements via the captain about this pandemic of coughing, hoping that it will just go away – eventually. We hope so too as it has been the only blight on a superb holiday. We all blame the air conditioning for spreading it.
Guy and Giles, where are you? Has the snow caused your broadband to crash somehow? We haven’t heard from you for some time. How are you doing in the snow?
Ho Chi Minh City tomorrow for a short tour, a bit of lunch and shopping in Vietnamese markets to see some local culture. Dick and Carol Worrall (we mentioned them before as being from Wareham – do any of our Dorset followers recognise the names?) know Hong Kong well and have given us details of what we might like to do to explore this area which is completely new to both of us.
Thanks again to all those tuning in
Lovely to hear from you today, you sounded so happy and full of excitement. I hope your 'kennel cough' will start to improve soon, what a pain! We all miss you here xxx
ReplyDeleteI've been here, still reading every day. Liking your photos over the past few days, especially the one of you drinking Singapore slings... I bet they were nice! Looking forward to editing a few pics for you, or showing you what to do with them. I didn't get the significance of chucking peanut shells on the floor in raffles... did that mean anything?
ReplyDeleteIn one of the cleanest places in the world where littering is illegal and heavily penalised, it is a tradition at Raffles to throw your empty peanut shells on the floor - the only place you are allowed to do it. Currently in a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City using free wifi. Have just had delicious Pho Bo - beef fillet with noodles and spring rolls washed down with Tiger beer.
ReplyDeleteLove to all
Hello...we're still here too, its thawing out a bit now but we still have snow & ice on the track and outside (thats north facing for you!). It was -11 yesterday when I got up at 0440 to go to work!
ReplyDeleteTues-Fri last week I went to Malaga to go dirt bike riding in the mountains there. My mate Mike from flat track racing was going anyway, I had the days off, so it was a good way of getting some sunshine and swapping -5 for +15 degrees. Karina stayed home and gritted her teeth! Had a good time and no broken bones (only just...lots of bruises, its rocky there), back at work now.
Pho Bo sounds nice, it reminds me of something but I can't think what.
I also get the idea that your trip is so much more than you expected....is that about right? Has it exceeded expectations so far?
Karina sends her love too, see you x
